... is to land an internship with a buy-side shop here in San Francisco and get three months of experience under my belt before the new year and see what happens from there. It's really tough out here, though. Robertson Stephens closed up last summer and released about 400 analysts and associates into an already stagnant IM job market. I have an MBA, am CFA level II candidate, and interned at the Fed last summer as Research Associate. I am competing for Associate positions against people with five years relevant experience, MBA, and CFA. If this internship doesn't pan out, I'm throwing in the towel and going to work for a commercial bank or in corporate finance. Just a really bad time to get into the game.

get the internship at the Fed. That sounds like good experience. Can you comment on the Work. I spoke with a few reps at some fairs and expos last year, and was really gung ho about intenring ther however nothing materialized. Any tips/advice on how to snag a position there.
