1. Alternative investment strategies generally refer to any strategy that's other than a long only strategy.
2. FoF analyst perform due dilligence on hedge funds or other potential investments. You usually visit the firms and analyze their strategies and management styles to determine if their fund is a good fit in your FoF. An equity or hedge fund analyst make actual investment decisions in securities.
3. No idea on comp level, but don't expect a "hedge fund" salary (1+20). IMO, FoF is more like asset allocation and planning rather than money management. |

So, are there "portfolio managers" managing these fund of funds? Or does the investment research team act as the manager as well?
Simply put, what's the structure like when it comes to fund of funds and how different is it from that of say fixed income asset management (where an investment research team recommends investment decisions that are decided by a portfolio manager)?
