i'm a recent grad with a "so-so" GPA..not good enough to get me into IB or AM. So, now i am thinking of getting CFA, hope it will make my resume more appealing. Any inputs or advise? Thanks. |

The CFA designation is a huge asset within the IM and IM consulting field. Their are some IBankers with the designation, but the 3 years sacrifice is not well compensate in the sell side. The AIMR is trying to push the designation and code of ethics to the sellside analyst after all scandals, but I??m not pretty sure they can do it. So yes the CFA can open you some doors in the buyside, but remind that you need 3 years of investment experience to be chartered plus the exam is very hard. Study a lot because if you fail except in level I you have to wait a year.
