I read Peter Lynch's "One Up on Wall Street" and "Beating the Street." I don't think the edition matters that much--I read them a few years ago in college. I also read other "classics" such as Phil Fisher, Graham, and Graham and Dodd. I am sure other people on this board have their favorite investment books that are just as useful.
In addition to books, you might also want to read some magazines related to the subject, such as Business Week, Forbes, and Barron's.
While knowledge of the stock market is useful for your interview, you might also want to think carefully about why you want to do Equity Research in the first place. That question comes up 99% of the time.
Good luck!
