In Reply To: Am curious...c/c++, vb/excel, perl/scripting, databases? Those can help in landing a job. You seem bright, so if you have a good background in those and want to apply them, you could break into a s&t type IT position, since s&t relies on technology more so than banking.
Message: I have the most experience in C++. Of course, after so many years of programming, I learned just about everything else. I work for a data warehousing company, so I know SQL and other database technology very well. I think I am qualified for most IT positions from technical side. I also have some project and engineering management experience. (My title is senior engineering manager.) From the postings downstairs, I saw somebody mentioning Matlab. I used that and Mathematica frequently when I was in graduate school. BTW, what does S&T mean? Securities & Trading? Also, do you know any firm that is actively hiring?
