In Reply To: Sorry if this appears twice but Vault is acting very strange on my computer. Outside of NY there are plenty of research opportunities. First of all there is the sell side. Check out San Francisco, virtually every investment bank has an office in the area and many have portions of research centered there, especially tech. Check Chicago the 2nd largest market for financial companies and I am sure there are plenty of opportunities. Minneapolis is actually the fourth largest financial market in the country and has a research firms in the area. Otherwise, Dallas, Atlanta, LA, Seattle, St. Louis, every region of the country has some kind of research going on. Then there is the buy side, mutual funds, pensions, insurance companies, etc. These can be centered anywhere because you don't have to be on Wall Street to buy companies. Talk to people in your area, there is bound to be someone managing money. But do some research because by your question it does not appear you have a very good grasp of the subject and players. If you want to interview with these firms you must be very knowledgeable. If you want a better answer tell where you live and maybe I could give you an idea of firms in your market.
Message: Thanks, folks, for the insight. As I said in a previous message, I am looking for a major career change. Obviously will research many options over several months before making any moves. All this information has been very helpful, and I would appreciate any more insight anyone has to offer.
