This is a bad time to try to break into the investment field!!!! You should try some firms near the DC area. Friedman, Billings Ramsey (FBR) is one and then there is always Legg Mason & TRowe in Baltimore.
But, from what I understand those firms, have been in hiring freezes for most of the year.
Also, from what I know about the industry, the quality of life on the buy-side is not much better than the sell-side. |

From what I understand, Baltimore is in the pitts. There were tremendous layoffs at Legg Mason last year, eliminating some depts altogether, and i don't think TRowe has recovered fully from their shameful scandal last year..
I agree with alreadytaken that this is a bad time. if you're interested in investment, you should just do it on the side, with your own savings.
