The comments someone made about what it takes to succeed in the competitive investment about needing degrees and CFAs I think is blatantly backwards. Of course, I may be wrong.
The only comment I found personally annoying was where someone presumed to indicate what my father would or wouldn??t think about what I/we do. Do you really think you know anything about how he would think if he could fathom what we??re doing now? If so, you discredit his ability to think outside the box and you are then, in my opinion, an arrogant twit. I am grateful there were no comments about what my mother, wife, sons, dogs and cats might think about me or the firm.
If you don??t like what we do, fine. We have a very distinctive corporate culture which is quite different than most if not all our local peers. In fact, we??re quite different than most of our industry nationally and try to be. That doesn??t make us bad. It doesn??t make us good. It just makes us us. If you believe we aren??t trying very, very hard, you??re wrong. To get to where we are we must have done some things right. Whether we succeed or not in the future remains to be seen. I encourage you to do better and applaud you if you can. If you can??t, and you are the right kind of person for us, you might contemplate seeing if the folks who don??t like us might just possibly be wrong. Either way, good luck and thanks for so many comments about our firm.

I don't know if you are really who you say you are but...
I've read your fathers books several times and have been a reader of your columns through the years.
However, it's interesting and reallt pretty funny that you spend the better part of three posts bragging about your firm and your accomplishments, THEN you turn around and slam graduates of top-tier schools for being prideful. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black or maybe just sour grapes.
Anyway as a CFA holder and graduate of a second-tier school, I am very proud of my accomplisments as anyone who works hard should be. and only someone who has undergone the hell of the CFA program can understand.
BUT you are right in that I only deserve and should only expect to get what I earn by working hard and performing well at my job. I don't expect anything more. Maybe some people do...
