In Reply To: I'm not in the industry, but I've had reason to become familiar with senior-level IM comp for IM deals I've been involved with in the past. I can't speak for the medium term (3-5 years post MBA) but if you have a good track record on $1b+ (either alone or as part of a team) there's no reason why you wouldn't be at the $1mm level in 8 - 10 years. The reason for that is that if your employer knows that if it isn't offering you comp in that range, you'll say "yes" when the liftout specialists come calling.
Message: What is, by industry standards considered small? I am interning at an IM firm with $1.5bn under mgmt (10-15 employees, 3 of which have CFA). What kind of full-time pay can I expect from them (I am an undergraduate)? 40K-50K? Thanks.
