I have 2 years of ib experience and a top college education and looking for positions in buy-side in San Diego. I've spoken with the hedge funds in the area but no one seems to be hiring as most of them are way below their high water mark at the current time which means they are surviving on management fees instead of the fat performance fees. I'd love to get people's ideas and advice. Thanks. |

There are only a handfull of managers in San Diego.
Nicholas Applegate, Duncan Hurst, Wall Street Assoc, Rice Hall James,Brandes, Plus a dozen or so hedge funds.
Fincareer.com has a list of the top 50 asset managers. Few are in San Diego. If you can get access to Bigdough.com you can get a complete mailing list of every person at every firm in San Diego.
It is rather surprising that the great location has not attracted more managers. I would say it is the rather poor airline service at San Diego International but how would you account for Milwaukee being a bigger financial community than San Diego with a considerably smaller airport.
Good Luck
