I'm curious to find out what other buyside analysts are making 1, 2 and 3 years out of business school. I'll post my information and maybe others will post theirs to get a better picture of ranges over the first couple of years.
I'm graduating from Wharton this May, will take CFA level III in June, had a couple years sellside research experience and a couple of years as a stock broker before that.
I've accepted an offer at a buyside shop with a base salary of $120M with a bonus of 25% ($30M) for stub first year-end (5 mos.)
My summer internship, also buyside, paid a prorated base of $96M. Starting salary was comparable.
Others I know at school are taking offers with bases between $85M-$120M. Full year bonuses (not stub) tend to range between 70%-120% of base.
There's my market information. I'd love hear about the growth in salary from those a couple of years out. A discussion with the CIO and chairman of the company I'll be working for indicated a growth of 120 (current starting base) to 250 to 500. I think he was talking about base, but it was just too tacky to ask at that point. And frankly, he may have just been talking--he was trying to sell me at that point. |

what size is this firm, style etc, that you took the offer at. I too am an MBA, but my offer was lower unfortunately, with most resting on bonus. 75 + Bonus.
