Need a bit of feedback on whether or not fund management / equity research would be a step backwards after 7 years of experience in a Big 5 accounting firm (5 years of banking audits / 2 years doing commercial due diligence work)
One issue is pay - will I be taking a large pay cut to pursue this sort of work?

Pay and promotions come much quicker than accounting...One of the guys I know phrased it like this to a young auditor, "why are you living in the past, you obvisouly do analysis on decisions I made, while I make decisions regarding the future." Take the leap of faith if you can, life is much better on this side of the fence.
