I'm not in the industry, but I've had reason to become familiar with senior-level IM comp for IM deals I've been involved with in the past. I can't speak for the medium term (3-5 years post MBA) but if you have a good track record on $1b+ (either alone or as part of a team) there's no reason why you wouldn't be at the $1mm level in 8 - 10 years. The reason for that is that if your employer knows that if it isn't offering you comp in that range, you'll say "yes" when the liftout specialists come calling.
