In Reply To: The legal market is tight. I was working for in-house for a major corp. and we were laid off. Other major firms are doing so as well. I never thought it would be this way when I applied to a top tier law school. What do any of you in the finance sector think about Edward Jones? I was considering EJ b/c I would be able to open my own little office, and maybe do a little law on the side. I also figure the elderly population is beating the birth rate & they got the $.
Message: Straight sales at EJ... from my experience, you're either good at sales or bad, there is no in-between. Jones actually expects their brokers to canvas their respective neighborhoods, door-to-door, for prospects. Income potential very high. Average income for Reps is good. "Best company to work for" in America by Fortune. However, they don't even require a college degree. With a top-tier law education, I personally think you can do a lot better. If the retail side of investments really gets you excited, by all means go for it. Good luck.
