I just noticed this message now, and realize it is a bit old, but wanted to add my two cents on Fisher. I too am looking for a position with a money manager, and, as with many other people, got a call back from Fisher.
I went up there to interview in December after two phone interviews. I was quite excited beforehand, but once I got there, it was a different story. A couple of disturbing points:
1. All people start in client services, no matter what your interests or background (unless you want to do sales).
2. They discourage outside education. When I mentioned my studies in the CFA program, they openly told me that people at Fisher don't get outside designations. Out of the 350 employees+, "only a dozen have MBA's and even fewer have CFA's. We don't pay for it and really discourage it. Everything you need to know will be learned on the job."
3. It's cramped. The whole office is like one big trading floor. No receptionist, no nothing. Just one big open room, not even cubicals. Very odd, unless you like the completely "open-air" environment.
There are few other minor things, but those are the biggies. I was really stunned by a few of them and quickly gave up on pursuing it any further. |

I told people to go up there on Skyline and experience the high weirdness of Fisher and THEN tell me if it's a good firm or not.
Now, Prospero and others have seen and now believe.
