So regular traders are all operations and no analysis? Whereas equity research is all analysis, and no operations? So is position trading a combination of both? I believe that I have a successful model, and I want to apply that to more capital than I currently am willing to put up of my own. Would being a position trader, or assisting a position trader allow me to do that. Or am I just imagining a possibility that does not exist? |

don't know if you've seen 'The Street' on FOX before, those guys on there were position traders. Traders generally do not model.
Just a word of advice, models are not all they are cracked up to be, just gives an idea of how the business is. Most of the time you can get models from the street...
p.s. DCF is a joke for most industries, except ones with stable cash flows, but even then you have to figure out the terminal value and interest rate. I've never met anyone that uses DCF. I've seen a few street reports with these models but I pay little attention to it because of the above factors.
