In Reply To: Hi, I am no Ivy League school student, nor do I even have 3.0 GPA. I am basically not the material that investment firms would consider. Do I care? No! Would I cry about it in the middle of the night? Definitely not! This is because I couldn??t care less about them. I like investment and that is it! It doesn??t matter if I get in or not, I would still do my own research, still do my own investing, and still do the CFA program. It doesn??t matter if I made $100,000 a year or just $20,000 a year, I would still pursue my dream and do the best I can in investment. I would not let my dream get crushed just because some HRs think I am not good enough for their companies. My dream is to start an investment club that would exceed peoples?? expectations. It would utilize investment techniques and strategies of successful investors. It would be designed for investment underdogs and run by investment underdogs. We would make it the ??Southwest Airline?? of investment club. If there are any investment underdogs here who feel the same way as I do and would like to ??go the distance??, reply! Thanks! Thousand
Message: From Asia, Singapore and studying and working at the same time. In bond sales for 1.5yrs and was doing a proj in school (overseas corresponding degree course) in portfolio mgt at the same time. My proj have returned 9% in 3 months, and have not followed any other strategies but mine. Of coz, the money's fake, but it doesn't hurt that I scored a high distinction on it. That's my interest, period. How's that for investment underdogs? I read the vaultboards, and in the U.S. finance scene, they seem to give too much emphasis on Ivy leagues. Even b4 I want to go there (plan), I'm already afraid!! Of coz it doesn't hurt if pple can get into Harvard, but I just wanna do something which I totally believe in. Bulge bracket IB/I mgt sounds sooo good, but I don't want to go there and spend alot of time bitching around and missing the whole picture. Pls provide your email if you are serious about your "investment underdog" ideas and hope we can help each other out.
