I'm wondering if anyone in the boston area/ or anyone in general can give me some career advice. I am graduating Boston College this May, and I still don't know where I'm working yet after graduation. My major is in Finance and Marketing, and I primarily want to go into some type of Financial Analyst Position. I have an ok GPA (3.0), but I have a lot of internship experience, (northwestern mutual, Smith Barney, and Fidelity), however i'm finding my friends with the high GPA's are being offered all the jobs. Does anyone know of financial companies who will hire someone with my credentials, w/o the 3.8-4.0 GPA? |

BC boy, there's a lot of BC alums out there, including myself. If you are interested in working in IM there are a lot of small banks and insurance companies out there that have small investment groups. The salary starts out a little less than IB but goes up pretty quickly + you don't have to get booted out the door after 3 years. Go into the e-recruiting website, there are a couple listed (I know we posted one recently), some banks and insu companies. I'd give you the name of my company but, we are looking for someone that graduated in Dec.
p.s. I graduated BC with a 3.2 average so don't worry you'll be fine. Just make sure you have your story down. + what the previous poster says is true. the more experience the merrier, If you don't have investment experience start following the market.
If you are not looking for IM and just want a Finance type job, State Street will be positing investment accounting type jobs as well as Brown Brothers.
Good Luck
