Message: hey, you want to go work there? go ahead, be my guest. look, earnings season is approaching and I don't necessarily have the time to answer postings within 24 hours. and what do your D&B reports show? nothing of any importance (yes, Fisher pays its bills - that's great, I suppose). Fisher is growing - do you know HOW their growing? Look, they're supposedly a quant shop yet their chief writes a fundamentals-style article for Forbes. To be a really good quant shop, you have to have a certain level of personnel - PhDs from top schools, some real programmers, real quant types. I haven't met a single person from Fisher who meets those criterion. Have I met everybody at Fisher? No, and I don't want to. Take a look at other good quant shops - take AXA/Rosenberg for instance. The head of the firm is one of the leading finance scholars in the world (and holds a doctorate). They got a very impressive staff. Or Barclays. Now, let's look at Fisher. Ken Fisher - undergrad degree from Cal. Fine, no problem. No graduate degrees. No experience at any firms besides his own. None. Zip. Big problem. Unusual thing: from the website - "And there's continuity at Fisher. Ken's father, Phil Fisher, who trained Ken, is a legendary investor and author. His biggest fan, other than Ken, is Warren Buffett, who says Phil is one of his two main sources of investment inspiration." implying that Phil Fisher works for or at least supports the strategies at Fisher Investments. Now, Phil Fisher not only does not have anything to do with Fisher Investments, Fisher Investments actually invests with a contrary style to Phil's.
