"Do I need to go to a nationally ranked school?"
it would help
"Do I need to major in Finance or Economics (both are interesting to me but, not every selective college offers the former)."
No.
"Is the u-grad school you choose to attend and graduate from really important? Is it just that a 'name-brand' u-grad education will significantly increase your chances of a good b-school? and recruitment by the boys on the Street?"
Yes.
"What programs, certifications, or recognitions should I look for in a u-grad program, if any to help my chances of great internships, career placements, and recruitments."
None.

Im a freshmen at a state college in california. I decided that im going to try to transfer into a tier 1 school for 3 reasons. Better specialized education in finance related subjects, it will look a million times better on a resume, and i would really like to get out of CA and over to the east coast. If your really that great of a student...take a look at the ivies ofcourse, but dont forget about some of the other really great tier 1 schools. You can break tier 1 into 3 groups discluding the ivies. #1 You have places like Brown, Duke, Georgetown etc...then #2 you have places like Boston College, NYU, UCLA, UCBerkeley etc and finally #3 schools like UMichigan, U of Virgina, Boston University. I myself am aiming for section #2 and hopefully an east coast school. I hear places like UCLA arent really represented to well on the street. Anyway...sorry for the babbling...just do some research and youll be cool...you sound bright.
