In Reply To: anyone heard of WAMCO based in Pasadena, CA? is the firm reputable? i know they specialize in fixed income, but what exactly do they do? thanks in advance.
Message: They primarily do institutional fixed income management, now part of Legg Mason's operations. WAMCO is rumored to be one of the best firms to for fixed income analysts to work, aside from BlackRock. I don't know anybody that works there personally, but I've encountered nothing but positive views regarding WAMCO in the past. Apparently they give their analysts quite a bit of discretion of when/what to pull the trigger on, something you don't always find at some of the big-boy shops [cough PIMCO]. I believe they are a British firm by origin, so you could always transfer and do a stint across the pond, if that's what you're in to. All in all, I've heard it's a great firm.
