Hey Coag,
Thanks for the reply. I actually entered a Ph.D. program right after undergrad with the intention of being a researcher. However, after working in the lab and passing all my Ph.D. candidacy exams I decided that that wasn't for me. There are a lot of reasons someone in finance would want to hire someone with my background. First, I have a significant amount of knowledge and experience in science which would be a tremendous asset to any group which is working in the biotech/chemical industries. Additionally, many of the skills I developed in undergrad and perfected to a greater extent in graduate school such as critical thinking, objective analysis, grant writing and preparing and giving presentations will translate readily to any career, even finance. Having said this I do realize that finance is a very difficult field to break into which was the reason for posting my initial message requesting advice for careers in which I could gain financial experience other than finance and management consulting. If you have any advice in that regard feel free to share. Thanks in advance.
