If you want to be a trader, I suggest you devote more of your time to reading books about trading than magazines full of economic junk. Make sure you learn the basics of TA. John Murphy's Technical Analysis book is a good intro. Even if you decide this stuff isn't for you, it's good to know. If indicators aren't your thing, study Wyckoff. Also I like Bill O'Neil's stuff. Haven't used IBD though.
Read the economic junk later.
P.S. I don't think the fund I work at is going to be hiring just yet... well, maybe only an experienced execution trader. Don't know if things will change.

Most entry-level or assistant positions deal with technical analysis right? Especially for someone with Computer Science background i'm assuming? Will John Murphy's book be easy to follow for someone with no finance background? In addition, what's covered in his book?
