In Reply To: My company gave me $1,200 to spend on CFA Level 1 study materials. I would like to spend it wisely. I need some feedback from those who took the exam on whether I should be getting books or study notes and from which provider, Schweser or Stalla. Thank You
Message: I am taking Level 1 in December so I can only give you my experience with the Level 1 Schweser materials, but I am very happy with them so far. A charter holders recomneded that I get the Schweser study package, the AIMR ethics handbook, and an extra set of practice exams from Schweser. So far that seems like a great package. Depending upon your familiartiy with the material the Schweser notes might be a bit skimpy in some parts; they really just give you what you need to know for the test without going into great detail. I am a recent finance grad and the notes are fine for me, so you will have to gauge that for yourself. But with that budget you could buy the official AIMR textbooks, or at least the ones you think would be helpful. However, doing all the assigend readings seems like a pretty daunting task. Good luck!
