Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I'm a recent college graduate wondering what I'll be doing for the rest of my life. I just wanted to make sure I have my facts straight. Is asset management determining what the best mix of broad asset classes and security selection for a particular investor? Would this be the same thing as a portfolio manager? I'm looking into a position that deals with asset allocation. Would this be a good starting point to become a portfolio manager in the future?
Thanks if anyone can help |

That would be a great entry point into the business. The only people picking stocks these days are on the institutional side. If your client base is private clients asset allocation is the main tool used these days. Make sure the firm has a good rep and begin CFA Level I asap. Good luck.
