In Reply To: I graduated with an MBA from a top 25 school last year and am facing a very crappy job market. Given this situation I was thinking about going back to B-school, to a Top 10, or going for a PhD... I don't want to be a professor, I want to work in i/banking or research (buy or sell side)... which way do you think is better? 2nd MBA or a PhD? and which schools do you recommend? Columbia and Chicago are on my list... thanks for your comments! By the way, my previous experience is with a Big4 doing IT consulting...
Message: I would agree to not go for a 2nd MBA, even if its at Harvard. A PhD is great, but don't do it because of a crappy job market. A PhD is incredibly intensive study/work, and for at LEAST 4 years. It is not a decision to take lightly, or simply a "job mkt sucks I'm gonna go do a PhD." You better make sure you LOVE the field you'll study or you'll have the worst time of your life. I'm not really sure what you should do b/c I'm not exactly in the industry yet. But just don't waste your time with more schooling if you really don't need it. And you other guys gotter be nicer, these people just want advice.
