In Reply To: Comp for I-banking associates is a combination of base and bonus. The bonus is where most of the money is made and is loosely based on productivity. Starting base for MBA associates is a pittance, a mere 80K. However, the year end bonus for the 1st full year is 100K-150K, bringing total comp to the 180K-230K range. It goes up dramatically from there, four years out of B-school, guys are making 500K-600K. This is when the lawyers get jealous and want to make a lateral move!
Message: Is the 180-230k for first year associates working from july to july? Isn't DLJ paying close to $300k for the same time period? Or is this the total calendar year comp. from Jan to Dec.? Is there much of a difference?
