I will infact be attending Michigan this fall. I have one more follow up question, do you think I should try contacting alumni right now or should I wait till I join school?
Thanks a lot. |

Wait till recruiting for 1st years starts- which begins with cover letters in December thru interviewing in January and February. Also, go to the presentations in September and October of banks you want to target to get a feel for the recruiting process.
Specifically, call alumni in December or January, when you have an understanding about the industry, the alumni's specific firm and what an Associate actually does. The more informed you are about why IB and why Bank X the better. But also understand that the idea of whether you "fit" Bank X's culture is an important factor in the hiring decision.
Research the industry and players, talk to friends, classmates and alumni. You should be fine.
