Message: Sorry for the confusion. Regarding the MBA program, you will find getting a position more difficult because most I-Banks go to the usual suspects for getting a majority of their Associate classes: Wharton, Chicago, Columbia, Stanford, Harvard, NYU, etc. Michigan is known as a soft skill school on the MBA level (Marketing, General Management, Consulting). That is due to the fact that U of M has decided to let the above mentioned schools concentrate on finance. But we do have a strong relationship with Chase, and we send a respectable number of MBAs to Goldman for their IB division. S&T positions are available but rare. But in the end, if you want to have a better than average shot at getting a job as an Associate at an I Bank, Michigan is not necessarily the school to use as a springboard. Your overall chances will be better at one of the above mentioned schools. Opportunities for the undergrads are better than the grads regarding positions at banks. But if you are coming to Michigan do not worry. A strong candidate will always get the job, and Michigan is a good MBA program. Again, utilize the alumni network and good luck. - UMBS alum
