In Reply To: You got to love how one-sided some of my fellow English speakers are. European Universities are not limited to Oxford and Co, Imperial and Sorbonne (well at least you have included one non-English speaking school). Facts: 1. St. Gallen in Switzerland is considered to be one of the best schools with emphasis on Business and Finance. Generations of German, Swiss and Austrian business leaders have graduated from this school. Few if any US schools have ever dominated as much as St. Gallen. 2. HEC 40 min outside of Paris is probably the best feeding ground for Investment bankers in France. It regularly supplies BB with outstanding talent. 3. Shocking fact: over 40 graduates per year of tiny Stockholm School(graduating class of 250) end up working in London. In 2000 alone 7 will start at GS. Other schools worth mention are: LSE in London BFK at Erasmus, Rotterdam Bocconi in Milano Esad in Barcelona
Message: buddy, we are not talking about B schools here.. this is a thread about top universities.. I am prepared to bet that all 5 top universities in the world call US of A their home.. Oxbridge has otlived its past fame.. the best academicians in Europe tend to be snapped up by Harvard/Yale/Stanford/Columbia/MIT because they offer them a lot better resources, academic freedom and access to the corporate world.. I've known a few Oxbridge grads while I was living in London and I wasn't ipressed to say the least.. old money certainly means a lot more in europe as far as getting into the "right" schools..
