hey dude- what company do you work for? I'm starting as an analyst in a small m&a boutique servicing mostly middle and small market firms. The company is in NYC though..Do I have a chance to lateral into a BB firm as an associate after being promoted w/o an MBA? how do u like m&a? any tips? |

I have never heard about people from small M&A boutiques joining the firm - unless they were co-founders of Gleacher & Co or Wasserella. I am not saying that this does not happen, but if it does it has to be pretty rear.
A friend of mine did not want to pull the hours any longer and went to a small M&A boutique. He gets Saturdays and Sundays off, earns at least twice as much (before the big RAISE) and plans to get a Harvard or a Wharton MBA and come back to one of the BB houses as an associate.
