In Reply To: You can expect to spend at least $1,000 if you decide to live in Manhattan. Anything less than that will be hard to come by, unless you are content with living in a dump. Some analysts spend more because their parents hook them up with $$. But on average expect to pay $1300 per month.
Message: 1300 is way too low. I know someone who lives in a studio for $1300 it is the biggest shithole I have ever seen. You will not get a good 2 bed for $2600 unless you know someone. If you want a fairly new apt with nice kitchen, bathroom, etc. check out the Sunday NY times Real Estate section. Studios run for around $2000 in the nice buildings. Nice 2 beds to share are $3500-4000. It is absolutely crazy but check out the NYT if you don't believe me. The second you get off the island of Manhattan ie. NJ, Brooklyn, Queens, rents drop 50%. I don't know if analysts are willing to do this however.
