As an incoming associate, I'd be interested to know the answer to this as well. Airline tickets for major holidays like Thanksgiving are considerably cheaper if purchased far in advance, but I don't want to buy the ticket unless I'm sure I'm going to be able to get off.
Also, you hear a lot about i-bankers having their vacations cancelled at the last minute. Do the banks reimburse you for unrecoverable expenses (e.g. non-refundable deposits) when this happens? |

Good questions, somebody please advise! I read in some material that my firm gave me that no analysts are allowed any vacation time during their first six months on the job. Exceptions would be made for some circumstances, it said. Of course, thanksgiving and christmas are in the first 6 months, and I'd like a few days off in each case. Possible?
