If you don't go Ivy, it really depends on your networking. I went to BU(like the kid before me) majored in a liberal art, although I took a fair amount of business courses, and landed a job at an ibank. Granted, not GS, but I enjoy what I do and at a boutique that accepts less then perfect pedigrees, and you can advance yourself more quickly because there is less of a structure: i.e. two year analyst, b-school, assoc., VP, etc. I skipped b-school and got my associate position by showing results through hard work-you will have to work harder to show your stuff. If you're non Ivy, just make sure to network the hell out of yourself and try your hardest to get great internships. And don't waste your time on the GS types of places. You most likely won't get in and you'll spend too much time and money doing it.
