In Reply To: The Big 5 do not require an accounting degree for audit functions. Nor does GE Capital. Nor does IBM. They tell things like that to reduce the number of people they have to interview. To get around that kind of stuff, you just have to network as opposed to just stuffing your resume in the little box at your school.
Message: I doubt it, I tried to network my ass off in college but no one wanted to talk to me because I was just a college student and had no experience (besides the internship). Furthermore, I know many people in audit with the big five and every single one was an accounting major. When GE recuited at my school, every single candidate was either finance, accounting or econ. You might still have a shot if you "Network" but the probabilities of an english major (non-ivy) getting an interview much less a job are slim.
