In Reply To: Of course there are a broader array of options available to CorpFin people than there are to S&T people. But you know what, S&T people don't give a shit. I don't care to have lots of contact with the CEO, CFO, etc of some bullshit industrial company in the hopes of one day getting his or her job. If there were a particular business that I thought was so fucking cool that I was just dying to run it, I would bust my ass to get a great job there. My interest, however, lies in the financial markets, not in industry. The options that are available to Corp Fin people that are not avaiable to me hold no value whatsoever for me. If you studied finance, got an MBA, and came to Wall Street because you want to be involved in the markets, S&T may be the right place. If you don't know what the hell you want to do, but think someday you might like to be CEO, CFO or whatever of a widget maker, go to corp fin.
Message: As an analyst, I decided to go with BB Derivatives over BB M&A...why? I didnt give a shit about knowing chief executive whoever at XYZ Widgets Inc. I liked the markets, I liked math, and I like going home before sundown during my summers...and I like my weekends...and I like decision making...and I like current events...These are the type of personal evaluations one should try and make...fuck all that talk about prestige and whathaveyou!
