Typcially financial sponsor groups pitch companies to LBO shops. They act as the central marketers for the leverage finance team and m&a teams that will be used later on if a shop likes the idea. The analysts, will typically build the model of the proposed buyout, levering or unlevering the balance sheet of the proposed sub, and prepare the pitch, and closing documentations with legal advice. Typically you will be asked to look at similiar transactions in the space and answer in the financials how this one will be successful. The modeling is a step from most industry groups, and you get exposure to lucrative fee areas, leveraged finance, and m&a.
