In Reply To: It is generally agreed that the analyst position at an i-bank is pretty grueling. You can easily get admitted to a top 10 b-school after working 2-3 years at a top consulting firm like McK/BCG/Bain. I was wondering if you can get hired as an associate at a top i-bank with a consulting background. That way, you can travel the world with McK for 2 years while you're young. Then, after 3 years as an assoc. with an i-bank, you become a VP and are smooth sailing. In other words, can you get to a VP position at an i-bank without going through the analyst position?
Message: If you get an MBA after your consulting experience, of course you can get into IB. I've never heard of anyone going form MC analyst to IB assoc without an MBA.
