Let's be honest here. As an undergrad business major at a state school, I know that only way I have a shot at getting an interview is if I do finance, because that shows that I have some interest in doing banking over my french literature peers. This does not matter at an Ivy League school because of the whole pedigree issue. I would much rather do a liberal arts major at my school, but know that that is not going to get me anywhere. The business stuff I learn is easy and could be learned by anyone in a 6 week training program. So all the state-schoolers out there, don't think you're so smart just because you're doing a finance major - you're doing it because you want to get the interview.
