Message: I am starting as an analyst this summer with a top tier bank. I am not going to mention who since some people will simply use it as an opportunity to say how it is not as good as other banks etc. What I would like is for some present analysts, or former analysts in Investment Banking, to tell me what exactly it is that they do. Obviously I know what the job entails, but what is a typical week like ? Can you describe your average week (if there is one), describing the work you did, the number and nature of meetings, any travel, the hours worked, etc. Do you simply run valuation models for most of the time, do you get to meet clients ? These are questions that I wish I could have asked during interview, but as is the case in most interviews, it is not possible to ask the questions you most want answers to. Some more questions I have are : Do you enjoy the work (the truth please) ? ; Are you treated well by those above you ? Does the compensation you receive (salary, bonus) make it worthwhile ? Thanks for any help you can offer. I know that there are many analysts joining this summer who will want to know the answers to these questions. Thanks again
