In Reply To: buddy, there is areason why pedigree matters.. It'sgood to know that you have taken some poly sci but perhaps you have taken those courses at some low tier or some state school that would explain why the 76 credits have taught you nothing. The reason why IBs come to Harvard is because my a lot of my professors at Harvard are experts in their fields, a lot have Nobel prizes and a lot get tapped for advisory roles in the white house and major international multilateral organizations. These guys can really teach you a lot in any discipline and yes they do teach you to think above everything else. Most of the finance/accounting material can be picked up by reading books. PV=1/(1+r) .. geez, I really need formal education to get that one right.. Liberal arts (especially at a top school) teaches you to dig deeper than the surface. You deride Voltaire.. but what does your Accounting 101 teach you about the human condition, about reflecting upon oneself and opening your mind to others? You think finance 101 qualifies you to be a banker? Macchiavelli never took finance nor marketing but I bet he would rival Milken had he lived in our century..
Message: The bitch who posted about pedigree below makes me sick. If someone needs to teach you how to think, then buddy you are in trouble. And no, Accounting 101 does not teach someone about the human condition, reflecting upon oneself and opening the mind to others? Accounting, for example, involves these things you may have heard of once called financial statements, go ahead and sound it out slowly, that's fi-nan-shul state-ments. I grew up in a positive environment with intelligent parents who taught me about opening my mind up and the human condition. Sorry you were less fortunate and had to fork over $40,000 a year for some so-called expert to teach you. Arrogant schmuck.
