In Reply To: The reason I didn't answer your question was that I wasn't sure if you were simply baiting or genuinely looking for advice. I didn't want to fire off a snide remark if you were being serious. The problem is that I'm not sure what you expect me to say about it. If you've been in the business for a year, there should be very little that I, as a total stranger, could tell you about what is right for you personally. Having said that, if you truly hate what you're doing, that's really the right reason to leave. No amount of money or wishing can make a job that fundamentally does not suit you better. No matter how long the line stretches of people willing to do your job, if you don't feel you fit where you are then the length of that line is irrelevant. It could be a phase, naturally. I hated my job, my group, and my firm at my lowest point. I stuck it out because it was a great experience... and I was just too damned stubborn and stupid to let myself quit. I'm glad I did, but that's because I'm still a banker today. Help me out here: what is it that you think I can help you with that you don't already know in your own heart? If you know this isn't for you, but you're hanging on because many people would kill to be where you are, then you're kidding yourself. If you just wish you weren't so miserable, then remember it's only one more year. But only you know what's right for you.
Message: I really appreciate your comments. I was the same person that posted the mail about Portfolio managers, for when I was in the lowest point I started looking for another job. I applied to another firm also in CF(with better people and hours) and to another as Portfolio manager. I got offers from both, that is why I wanted advice. I have not taken a final decision yet (to where am I going to), but today I will quit my firm. If you have more comments I will appreciate that you use the email I posted last time Thanks for everything.
