I did that too and I didn't think I face any special treatment during the recuriting process(neither hurt nor help). But if you haven't had any finance-related summer internship and you think you would be able to land one in the summer between your undergrad and grad year. It would be worth.
It would be cool if you have some corporate finance/accounting courses in your studies. But I think the most important factor is still your internships prior graduation. |

That was the strategy I was considering when I was in my final year of study. I was in the same position like you and I could not manage to secure an offer yet. I thought I was in a better position than most other second year students. But it turned out to be false. They all wonder why I did that instead of seeking a permanent job. Even though I explained very clearly in my application or during the interviews, they were still not quite convinced. I am not saying that is for everyone but that is what I experienced.
