In Reply To: Depends on which area you're talking about. In M&A, the Eurobanks are definitely Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and Warburg Dillon Read. The former has a blue-chip list of clients in the UK and Germany and WDR is pretty strong in most industries. Deutsche is still floundering in this field (no blue chip clients) after all the Morgan Grenfell directors upped and left. ING Barings is focussed on small to mid-cap M&A with an emphasis on emerging markets (i.e. Croatia Slovenia etc.) so you can't really compare them with the rest. Eurodebt underwriting is monopolised by Deutsche and Dresdner. I'm not sure about equity underwriting though. Hope that helps.
Message: ABN AMRO is strong in debt but is still nowhere in M&A and BNP Paribas is an unknown quantity. I'd say SocGen isn't really a Europlayer except in the French market.
