In Reply To: After reading through the Business school message board and reading the comments people have to say about schools that are not ivy. I am now amazed that all the books recommed by the posters on this thread doesn't contain one written by a professor at an ivy-league university. Is that telling you something about the business schools that one should choose. Where are all the finance text written by those great hbs professors and wharton professors. One of the most comprehensive book was written by an NYU professor. I have not seen anyone mention a book except for I think brealey and meyers, but who are we kinding that is an intro text.
Message: The so called "top professors" publish their work in economic and financial journals. There are plenty of them. Perhaps it may be that they are too busy to publish an entire text book. With regards to the ivy v. non-ivy debate, business schools are excellentat at hyping their respective programs (don't ever forget this fact!). There is so much overlap between undergraduate b-programs and mba's. After all, how does a b-school turn an art history majors into killer analysts in two semesters!?
