You sound like a complete idiot. First of all, learn how to spell 'superficial'. Second, your 'hackers' arguments sounds completely moronic, having nothing to do with your original argument.
Now about your narrow-minded outlook: I don't know which foreign people you've met in New York, but I'm assuming you're one of those rich assholes who's developed this 'Oh I'm soooo sick of superficial society' attitude that's common amongst such braindead folks trying hard to make themselves feel good about themselves. Either that or you are a bigot chump - one of those who's 'traveled all over the world' but not really seen anything.
The real foreigners in New York are the ones who drive your cabs, serve you your hot dogs and coffee, clean your pavements and offices, etc. I would have a difficult time believing that they made money 'exploiting' people in their home countries and got on a boat to take advantage of this country. They see an opportunity here and that is why they come. As far as those rich college kids who attend NYU, Columbia and Cornell - yeah, there's a certain minority of them who are fabulously wealthy, but I can assure you that most of them have no intentions of ever staying back here - why should they, when they have all the money in the world. Which leaves us with the in-betweens; people like me who were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to study and work here, and who want to make something out of themselves here because they know they cannot do as well back home. So what if we're looking out for ourselves; doesn't every body. Atleast we have made an effort to integrate ourselves into American culture. Who are you to criticize us for trying to be 'American'? Multi-culturalism is being open to other cultures. Seems like all you've done is 'travel all over the world' and not made the slightest effort to integrate yourself into the cultures of the countries you visited - very typical of a 'I'm the best, fuck the rest' American attitude.
I love this country and want to stay here. I see it as providing me with an opportunities I can't get back home. Don't tell me you wouldn't do the same in the same situation. So open your fucking mind and really look at the people around you. Maybe then you'll realize that New York really isn't such a bad city after all.
