In Reply To: Is there a huge difference between back office and front? YES, HUGE. I did an internship in equities business unit control and I've seen people move from there to s&t, but it's very rare. Definitely take a front office position at a no name place (to a limit) than an operations position at GS. Having said that, I did quite a lot at my internship and i was able to use that to get many interviews and jobs. I ended up taking a position at a tech bank but i got offers from various places, including the BBs and even top consulting firms. Don't get stuck in operations if you want to be on the fast track because one lesson in life is that power is where the money is at. Learn to identify the power streams of an organization. Back office is important to a business's success overall but it's easier to attribute success to departments that bring in money (s&t, corp fin) than departments that just spend money (operations, tax, security, etc).
Message: What do you think about a financial analyst position in operations at Citibank? Anyone have any clue on what this could be about? Thanks...
