From what I hear, if you go to a dot.com you generally go into business or corporate development positions. Anyone know what kind of work you actually do in these positions?

These are two very different positions. Corporate Dev. means that you will handle issues such as investor relations (company contact to analyst and investment community), handle financings (liason with bankers when you need to raise money) and look at strategic investments, acquisitions, and perhaps sale of company. Business Dev. means that you will largely handle strategic partnerships for your company (ex. establish distribution agreements with portals, handle large marketing agreements, etc.)
