In Reply To: After doing some initial research on IB and reading messages on this board, I am really interested in making the switch to IB. Before I commit myself to become a banker, can anyone tell me the relative importance of the following characteristics to become a successful I banker (as an associate at a BB firm)? 1) Analytical skills (working with financial statements and Excel spreadsheets) 2) Interpersonal skills (working with co-workers and clients) 3) Sales (cold calling / sales presentation skills) 4) Any other ones? In particular, is sales a crucial success factor? Will your ranking of the factors above change for a VP? Thanks.
Message: Bankers are Salesmen (period).
