Also a Hopkins engineer with below 3.0 grades - just chose an M&A boutique over a BB firm. Everything 'ib tips' said is true b/c I went through the same shit. Here's my two cents: are you sold on corporate finance or would you consider fixed income sales and trading or derivatives. Those trading desks are very mathematical in nature and would appreciate your engineering background. I know thats where they wanted to stick me at first. They're also less formal with their recruiting so its probably not too late. A good bet would be calling Dave MacWilliams in HR at Greenwich Capital Markets and some of the European I-Banks (SG, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Barclays Capital) might be looking to hire. But as you've heard before you have to keep calling HR b/c few people will call you back and make yourself available for an interview.
